For the more observant of you, you may have noticed a lack of Vicki in the more recent blogs. Don't worry, I hadn't forgotten her. There are two reasons for this. Firstly because largely speaking, there has been little change in her condition and I don't want to elaborate on the details of what's been going on to spare her dignity. Needless to say, the last few days have been a really hard slog for her. Suffice it say she's confined to her room, and it's not exactly large and palatial. Seeing no improvement in her health is hard to write about and sound interesting, so I've focused on some of the more peripheral issues. Secondly, it's been hard for me personally too, getting absolutely no sleep, eating one meal a day, so I've felt the last few days have seen me almost as low as when she was in Intensive Care. So I've been twittering on about other stuff to keep my mind off the negativity which both Vicki and I have been feeling.
Today however is a different day. Finally we seem to have broken the diarrhoea/vomiting cycle. (Now do you see why there's not been too much to write about Vicki?). This has meant she's finally started to be more positive and get back on the Internet and in touch with her friends. Hopefully for the first time I'm hoping she gets a decent night's sleep. She's now starting to recover from the harshness of the chemotherapy, and fingers crossed that her immune system starts to rebuild itself. This will make the subsequent treatment marginally easier for her to bear. However reality check everyone, it's still early days, and many obstacles still obstruct the path.
We're now back into the swing of cycling round visitors so that will also give Vicki much to be positive about. She's recovering her appetite, and soon should be allowed out of the isolation of her cubicle. We're planning a Nando's when she's able. Can't wait.
