As we're well into the 2nd course of chemotherapy now, it's a case of so far so good. This week we've seen loads of firework displays around Leicester. Our ward, up high on the 4th floor of the Royal Infirmary gives us a lovely vista over the city. Numerous local displays have been entertaining us this week.
Inside the ward, the nights have been illuminated by Vicki's friends visiting. Each visit brings much laughter and entertainment. It's such a joy to see the smile stretching across Vicki's face as wide as the Khyber Pass. While the chemotherapy leaves her tired and lethargic, it's a beautiful contrast to see her laughing and soaking up every moment of the occasion. As with any teenager, she's so much more at home with her piers than her parents, it's just such a shame that we're so far from home that her friends can't visit for longer, or more frequently. Still, this makes us all cherish the few hours she does get.
Vicki's treatment continues on a pace. It's strange to realise that she's already half way through this 2nd course of chemotherapy already when the first course seemed to go on for ever. Time plays some interesting tricks with the mind.
