Charity begins at home

I'd just like to start by thanking the Townsend's for their kind messages of support for Sam.

There is continued concerned over the infection which Vicki is still carrying. Whilst less frequent, Vicki is still having spikes in her temperature and the doctors still seem baffled as to the exact cause. Her mouth is very sore and she’s now on an increased level of morphine to help. Progress is still slow, but is still positive. Vicki had a milkshake today, and whilst this may not sound like much, it’s a real step forward. She let me have a sip and it was absolutely delicious. The Children’s Oncology Ward has its own chef so everything including the milkshake is hand made. Whilst I can’t fault the clinical care that Vicki has received, the organisation that runs the hospital’s estate is not quite so good. Vicki has a faulty fluorescent light in her cubicle which was reported last Tuesday. We’re still waiting for it to be fixed!

Today I contacted a local charity for children with cancer, and it looks like I may get involved with them on both sides, so to speak, as a beneficiary, and to help behind the scenes perhaps. This may also prove to be a great way to get something positive from a negative. www.nctlctrust.org.uk is the charity concerned, please give them all the support you can.

On a personal note, my personal quest for a ginger-latte is still fruitless!

  4. To Vicki and her family:

I've only recently heard about Vicki, and I hope against hope that she's going to be alright...I haven't known her all that long, but she was always so upbeat and cheerful...
I just wanted to send my love to everyone in the family, and know I'm thinking of you...

Even though none of you probably know who I am >.<
