Once again, we had a bird's eye view of the fireworks that Leicester had to offer last night. There were many displays and the skies were illuminated for about 30 minutes or so. Much like Christmas Day, New Year's Eve seemed quite odd on a hospital ward. There were no heaving masses of people converging in one place. There was no massive queues for overpriced drinks at a tiny understaffed bar. There was no drunkenness. There was no hysterical outpourings at midnight being randomly kissed and hugged by complete strangers. There was no singing of a strange Scottish song that no-one knows any more that one verse to (and even differ over the first one). There was no walking home 5 miles in the freezing cold because you can't get a cab for love nor money. So, on reflection, quite a success then. Think I might plan to be in hospital again next year!

A little lower
Today's news from Ward 27 is that Vicki's Haemoglobin count is down. Effectively this means that she's tired and pale. So bless her she's had no energy to do much today and everything is an effort. She's needed a platelet transfusion and then 3 unit of blood to help her stabilise her cell counts. She still remains quite positive and otherwise not to bad.
